Fallen Earth

Apparently Fallen Earth, the MMO, came out and I totally missed it; wasn't even paying attention.

Looks like they've got a 10-day free trial up, and honestly that's the best kind of trial there is. More MMO games really should look into offering free trials as that lets the curious ones not waste ~$80 just to try out a game they may hate.

I was reading an article @Eurogamer, and then saw a link to the article @Massively, and the article was looking at the future of the MMO industry or some such. It kind of went in two or three directions, the important thing is that they had some quotes from the Fallen Earth MMO people, and that publicity got me thinking hey, maybe I should check this game out. So here goes, I'm downloading and installing it now, I'll probably start playing it tomorrow at some point. I'm going to try keeping a little journal of my experience. It's always a blast checking out an MMO for the first time, especially one like this that is apparently considered "good" and "niche".

I'm not completely clear on the premise yet, I read it a long time ago when it was still in beta and then forgot it all. The title nicely sums it up though. Earths gone through a catastrophe, time to wake up and get to the surviving. I get the feeling this is probably the closest anyone has gotten to making a zombie MMORPG.
